But it’s such a simple fallacy: who’s core is rightfully in charge and obviously eons more intelligent: Tech or cosmos through nature?
Tech can ad something new, yes, (made by the universe too) but that’s all and it can mingle but at root it’s intelligence is comparatively minuscule and there is currently not even a hint of that ever changing.
I’m sorry not to be reading all previous comments.
That’s too much iPhone screentime for me but:
This is an either or question not a both and.
I have chosen. Every second I spend on this device, including this one, is a second in which my love and attention could be pouring into the skin and brain of another sentient being.
Playing piano. Singing. Touching. Dancing. Crying and fucking.
I’m out of here on the 12th of June 2024.
After this, I await a time when apple actually serves sentience and not the Death Star.
It’s an either or and I’ve chosen.
Come and see me in the flesh in the forest.
Come and swim in the Rhein and Weser with me.
Let me walk the Appalachian with you and we will search for our lost fragments and the treasures that the rocks hold for us.
Let me give my love and the substance of my attention to your body…
I don’t serve tech. Tech and AI serve ME and WE and US for the next four billion years.

Let’s paint our preferred outcomes and keep painting until “one seed [school] has turned the whole earth (and other planets) green and blue and black and white and “like a diamond in the sky…”

Please do! i'm at 36 Sharon Road in Lakeville, CT, and the AT [1] runs close enough by (on some truly amazing land, in forests/fields/meadows, across a few roads, and over/through streams, mountains), allowing access to bountiful (even somewhat remote and isolated!) nature overflowing with beauty).
[2] Considering the content of @Bonnitta's original post above, the image which is there on this front page strikes me as rather disturbing (as if the salvation/survival of trees involves or even "requires" keeping them healthy by monitoring them by drilling into their core at the base?????).
Yes.. I see the first is the shadow side of the desire to be free of “stuff”, and convenient access to the experiences that used to require time to interact with the stuff. The (misguided, imo) belief that the essence of the experiences exist outside of the stuff rather than in embodied relationship with, through and within the stuff itself. So I guess the brand agency saw that as the light not the shadow.
What puzzles me is how they apparently believed this stance would resonate with most people, worldwide. And I don’t factually know if they’re right on that point… except for intuitively.
The stunned amazement I feel at their blunder then begs the question, was it a mistake or an act of intentional wielding of cultural clout through mass media of propaganda for that side. That sounds too conspiratorial for me, but it’s coming from my visceral felt-sense of an act of intense violence to what it means to me to be human - so much so that I find it nearly incredible.
Yes. I think that it was like a Freudian slip. Something in their unconscious really acknowledges that their project is to destroy everything analog because it can't be locked away in their technology. Apple is tenacious at creating proprietary "lock boxes" on their devices. Think about it this way. RIght now we cannot survive unless we enter the system that is global finance. Money is the portal for participation. Many people assume that the monetary system will be replaced. But that means replacing it with a more powerful control lever. So imagine a future where the "price of admission" is not money, but a device that is totally controlled on the back end. It's surveillance capitalism with the currency. You just get all your permissions denied. So the currency of the future will be "permissions." It's already happening. For example, the electronics in vehicles can be controlled by the corporations, and your car can be deactivated by them. You'll see this "error code" more and more often in the future
Here’s a thought: maybe what happened is they used AI to create the best ad... and AI doesn’t have a body, so it wouldn’t know what anyone with a body would. And given the the conditioned inclination to project authority on machines, they just went with it 😂
Watching those squashers destroy and disappear all that stuff with tactile resonance was actually a little hellish. "You're all I ever need" about an Ipad is revolting- according to the living instrument I'm flowing through! I really like the reversal piece - simple and powerful and really an eerie witness bearing.
I'm also kind of imagining this ad revealing more truth of what is really there for us as the "curtain" rises to reveal lord ipod - such as tons and tons of chicken fried rage and porn.
I know it isn't ALL that, witness us here now. smile. breath.

The work I do isn't in what people would generally consider creative. Yet, if I pitched this idea or was in charge of green/red lighting it... it would occur to me, purely as a simple critical analysis of the idea, "Hmm... people might not view this commercial positively." haha. ... Makes you wonder what types of people and/or mindframes are in charge of these things.
Hi Bonnie and all, I just watched this symbolic reel played forward and backward and thought I would share how it inspires a feeling of hope to witness the extreme polar opposites in transition and transformation. I’m thinking now of language and symbol as medium and as technologies of information compression and information expansion or release. Compression vs release; control vs freedom; there IS an implied way of fitness to hold our grip in between the polar All as One and All as None that is both sufficiently loose and sufficiently firm to afford the game of evolution and reconciliation of the opposites to continue to be played in perpetuity. Perhaps this way finds its unfolding expression in spontaneous awareness of the way of one’s actual being and doing right here and right now.
Thank you for this gift Bonnie. The crushing to spirit in this ad felt like another act of violence that seeks to deaden our experience of life. The ad itself is just a mirror of what is inside and outside of me (us?). I could feel myself breathing when the ad went in reverse.
What this reminded me of is the need to re-contextualize ourselves in relation to the world - the land, the non-human kin, to each other and ourselves. It also seems to call for a remembering of the past that lives through and in us and demands to be felt.
We need to practice the deadening of modernity with life affirming practices to join us to each other.
Quite the emotional rollercoaster, although I must admit to still feeling the nausea induced by the ad. For me it wasn't even about the control (though I agree that sinister message is there and horrifying) but about the loss of so much of what is joyful and beautiful about living as a human being -- full-bodied involvement in making music, art, reading.
But it’s such a simple fallacy: who’s core is rightfully in charge and obviously eons more intelligent: Tech or cosmos through nature?

Yes, even the "good guys" are confused. The malware runs very deep.

This feels like an expression of emanation compressing from above:
In the beginning was the word
And in the end was the i-word
In 7 different colours
for the low low price of everything
And in the middle
The juice squeezed out
Of the middle
The rebound is extraordinary as all the characters and identities shudder back to life …so joyful and full of meaning.
Thank you for butting them together
Ive seen those stamping machines up close
A truly intimidating metaphor…
Replacing reality and making it seem cool and right. And so many will fall into the trap it will appear normal.

Thank you for this hopeful re-interpretation!
Thank you. I love you for seeing this. I am inflecting myself and my daughter the fuck out of the tech world.
NOW.

I think that technology can liberate too -- just that's not what we are building.
The in between state depicted is really messy but it’s the mess we have!
Closed fist, open palm

Or maybe I'm just getting old.
